The life of Academie of FarSide

Yesterday my band rehearsed and met with a potential keyboard player for the band. All went very well and it was decided that next week he will come to rehearsal and try to fit into the music.
My expectations? Just normal...if he could perform with us, praise the Lord! But if not, I believe Jesus will send us the right person.

Other than the things I mentioned above, a mind just crossed my mind. Academie of FarSide, an excellent music group that I formed back in late 2003, has experienced personnel changes more than I can remember and I feel like writing all the formations the band ever had before.

A day after Indosiar...Academie of FarSide awakens

Happy Sunday!

Aah...a new day after my performance with Jever last night (Oct 18, 2008). We had many things happening at once and I personally think that last night wasn't comfortable. The performance also wasn't the best we've ever done in TV...perhaps we just tired of playing the same song? I don't know...It was good but certainly not the best.

Today...my band, Academie of FarSide experiencing its awakening moment...although we haven't got a keyboard player yet, the new personnel rehearsed nicely and really brought new colors to AOFS' music, I could tell the new line up will become much more nasty than the previous one.
Their spirits has lighten me up and gave new strength for me to move on and working for the 3rd studio album. Thank you Lord for everything!

Indosiar revisited (appearing with Jever)

Tonight I will accompany Jever and appear on TV (Indosiar) again. The show is "Gebyar BCA" at 9 pm local time.
We're still going to perform the same song, a cover version of "Kisah Cintaku" by the late Chrisye.

Meanwhile as I wait for departing to Indosiar, I'll continue my research about, world's cultures and music.

my pragmatic thoughts

Since I returned to Jakarta and started to work seriously in music in 2003...I've met with all kinds of people and musicians. Some of the people are nice some are just don't. So too with the musicians...just a little of them are nice and mostly just simply plain ass holes.

Most of the ass holes unfortunately are the ones that I needed the most for my band, keyboardists!
Yes, so hard for me and my co-workers finding good attitude keyboardist, that I'm beginning to think of making a black list of Jakarta keyboardists.
Not that I want to open a war, not at all. It's just that I felt lately we saw and found many young musicians, caught up in the influence of these ass holes keyboardists, so that we need a guideline for young musician, that can keep them from becoming a victim.

I'm not yet to start writing down the black list...well, it's just a concerning thought, I'll probably going to write it soon enough....

My music memories pt VI

METALLICA!!! Yeah! This is one of the most important bands in the world and they also gave a huge impact on my life. Listening to their music when I was just a kid, making me a hard core in pursuing music career as the purpose of my life.
More over, their old bass player, Cliff Burton was my first music hero and even until now.

I remember during my years on elementary school, I was the only kid who listening to Metallica and saying around that I want to become a musician. Thank you Cliff, thank you Metallica for the music.

ps: thanks to silvernations for sharing this wonderful video

My MacBook Pro, about...

Last Thursday I found that my MacBook Pro (MBP) battery isn't functioning normally and I quickly went to Apple Store to check it out.
Turned out that my battery is no more functioning and I had the replace it with a new one. Luckily enough, I paid the new battery just before rupiah (indonesian currency, IDR) value towards US dollar plunged.

Yesterday I received the new battery and I'm currently still (according to the manuals) calibrating it.

Will there any hope for Indonesian football?

I took this from the headline of Kompas daily of today, October 10, 2008.
The incident took place on Thursday at the Indonesia's super league during the match between PSIS Semarang and PSMS Medan.
The manager of PSIS Semarang apparently not satisfied with the referee's decisions during the match.

IF he understood the fair-play concept he would've report the game to a committee after the match. BUT NOOOOO!!! He straightaway jumped from the bench, chasing down the referee and run amok, trying to smack the referee. It's lucky he didn't whack one of his own players.
To make matter worst, he didn't express any sorry for his act, instead he was insisting that his action was justified caused by the referee. If he couldn't control his own ego, how would he be an example for his players?

This only one of many many idiotic things that ruin the Indonesian football. What a shame.

Pure hate towards facebook

yesterday the muslim celebrated Eid ul-Fitr or also known as Idul Fitri in Indonesia, I hope those who celebrates the holy day really understand what they were celebrating of.

Anyways...for the last couple days, I've made a profile for my band, Academie of FarSide on facebook and tried to modify the profile like crazy. But after so far, I'm not even close to what I wanted.
First, facebook won't allow you to create a collective profile, so I had to make a profile. Afterwards, we can't change the profile into collective one, instead you'll have to make a group and later on I was trapped to make yet another profile for Academie of FarSide.
It's so troublesome and so unfriendly. Every time you're making new group or band profile, you'll need to do edit and upload again. It's so frustrating!

I actually won't hate it so much but since some of my friends and people really insisted me to create a facebook profile, so when I found that facebook is just nothing but another internet crap, my frustration grew into pure hate.
So yes...I HATE FACEBOOK!

With this situation, I will only use facebook for my band purposes, no more, no less. Go on, if you want to add Academie of FarSide on facebook.
